What does “RSS” or “XML” mean?
An icon that looks like this: or the words “RSS”, “XML”, or a link that says “Syndicate this site” means that excerpts of each new blog posting are made available for others to use on their Web sites or to access through a news feed reader program.

What is a “news feed reader” program?
Rather than manually checking each of the blogs or news sites that you visit regularly, you can use a news feed reader program that will compile all of the latest headlines and excerpts of your favourite sites that have enabled RSS (Really Simple Syndication). With a news feed reader you can easily subscribe to content from enabled websites.

This lets you see all the new content from your favourite blogs and news sites in one place and lets you decide which entries you want to read. And you can subscribe or unsubscribe to the content that interests you.

How can I sign up to the Mobilize This! RSS feed?
The first step is to download a news feed reader. The next is to copy and paste this site’s RSS URL into your news feed reader where it says to subscribe to a new feed. The RSS URL for this site is:
http://researchimpact.wordpress.com/feed
As often as you want, check the news feed reader as you would check email.

Where do I get a news feed reader?
There are many RSS readers available for different platforms. These include:

Amphetadesk (Windows, Linux, Mac)
FeedReader (Windows)
NewsGator (Windows – integrates with Outlook).

There are also a number of web-based feed readers available. My Yahoo, Bloglines, and Google Reader are popular web-based feed readers.
